Reflecting on the 'Inasi Fund - where the vā exists
In August 2025, we proudly announced the launch of the ‘Inasi Fund. This was the first fund of its kind, created in partnership with Le Va, a Pacific-led organisation. We’re excited to share what has been achieved so far.
The Le Va 'Inasi team travelled up the motu, taking the message of ‘Inasi all the way to Kaitaia. Their goal was to show that this fund is “not just an overnight idea, but that it really looked at where the vā exists between us as people to people”.
The roadshow definitely helped bring the fund to life, attracting over 70 applications; the highest number of applications Le Va has ever received for a disability fund.
‘Inasi’s aim was to invest in community-led solutions that reduce stigma and discrimination around disability, to create communities of care and empower Pasifika people with disabilities to have a voice… to lead. And the fund has done just that, with 22 community organisations and groups across Auckland and Northland having received funding.
Not only has this partnership aided in getting pūtea to the community, but it has also helped to build strong, meaningful connections between people. Between us as organisations, us and community, and community with each other. The vā that runs between us all, is strengthened.
