Support to build capacity and capability

Helping you grow your impact

We’re here to support your organisation not just with funding, but with tools, training, and resources to help you grow, thrive, and make a bigger impact.

We focus on three key ways to build your capacity and capability:

  • Free tools and resources
  • Targeted programmes
  • Tailored one-on-one support.

Free tools and resources

Through our Centre for Social Impact (CSI), we offer a wide range of free resources to help you learn, grow, and lead change. These include:

  • Online talks and webinars
  • Downloadable guides and toolkits
  • Reports and podcasts.

You’ll find all of these at Te Pūaha o te Ako – CSI’s digital knowledge hub. It’s a space for sharing insights, learning, and practical tools to support your journey in creating social or environmental impact. Everything is free and designed for you to use at your own pace.

What's the word on Te Pūaha Talks?

We sat down with three Te Pūaha Talks participants from across the motu to get their thoughts on the webinars they attended and hear more about how these offerings have supported or strengthened their practices in their respective organisations.

Te Pūaha Talks are the Centre for Social Impact’s free capability-building workshops and webinars, funded by Foundation North, that are designed to support community groups and not-for-profit organisations in growing and strengthening their practices across a range of topics.

Each event is an opportunity to learn from people who are leaders, innovators, and influencers in their areas of expertise – with an aim to help participants build their knowledge and confidence to apply what they learn to their own community organisation or area of practice.

Recordings of the webinars are available online through Te Pūaha o te Ako, alongside additional resources such as templates and links to related sources of information. Explore past Te Pūaha Talks recordings and resources on the knowledge hub here.

Targeted programmes for organisations we support

If you're applying for funding or already receiving it, we may be able to support your participation in programmes and initiatives that build skills, confidence, and wellbeing.

    Examples include:

Please talk to your Engagement Advisor or Funding Support Advisor about what would help your organisation most. We also support wider initiatives like the LiiFT programme for Pacific communities, delivered in partnership with ANCAD.

Tailored support for systems change projects

For organisations engaged in the depth, width and complexity of long-term, intergenerational systems change projects, being well-equipped to advance ambitious social impact goals is vital. This can require an intervention to strengthen and reinforce the capacity and capability of an individual or team for the road ahead.

Through invitation only, we can provide tailored, bespoke capability building in the form of governance training, leadership development, impact and evaluation or technical support.
