Creative New Zealand and Foundation North Asian Artists' Fund 2022

26 January 2022   /   News & reports

Evidence shows that Asian artists are under-represented in arts funding in Aotearoa. Creative New Zealand and Foundation North are investing $300,000 to support and target initiatives that are by, with, and for Asian Arts communities in Auckland and Northland, with priority given to emerging artists. The fund targets impactful artistic projects that will achieve one or more of the following:

  • Empower Asian artists to develop artistic practice and new artistic work
  • Support Asian artists/arts organisations to present artistic projects
  • Build the capability of Asian arts organisations, groups, and collectives
  • Broaden the reach of Asian-led work
  • Develop emerging artists

Foundation North and Creative New Zealand have a history of partnership dating back to 2015. Our organisations recognise the true value of mahitahi –working together to achieve projects and impacts of greater scale. We celebrate the unique diversity within Aotearoa and share a commitment to supporting artists and communities to be self-determining.

For this fund, we are taking a community-led approach. A steering group of Asian arts practitioners will support the assessment and recommendations to Foundation North.

This fund is specifically for projects/initiatives benefitting Auckland or Northland.
