Community Events: Hui Hub and ACE Aotearoa Pasifika Info Expo
May 3rd was a busy day for the Foundation North Funding Team. The Foundation was so excited to be invited to attend not one, but two community expos in West Auckland!
First up was the Sport Waitākere Hui Hub, which was an opportunity for the Foundation to gain insights into the barriers and need impacting primary and intermediate students’ participation in sport and recreation activities. We felt grateful and humbled to know that school students from across West Auckland had contributed to the insights, their whakaaro is invaluable to our learning and growth as a strategic funder. Jacqui Johnston, one of our Auckland-based Engagement Advisors, enjoyed listening, making connections in community and sharing.
The second event for the day, the ACE Aotearoa Pasifika Info Expo at HubWest. Led by Pale Sauni and Sandy Harman of ACE Aotearoa, this event (which repeated in South Auckland) provided Pacific community organisations with information about a range of services that can support their mahi, meaning they can better respond to the growing demand for the work they do.
We mihi to Sport Waitakere, ACE Aotearoa, and the many organisations like them in our rohe for holding space for these opportunities to listen, share and deepen understanding. Also, to all the busy organisations and groups who attended – it was our pleasure to meet with you and learn what’s on top for you and your community.
